What are we doing to keep you and our team safe?

We wanted to provide you with an update regarding the status of our practice and all of the things that we have been implementing to keep you and our team safe.

We are excited to welcome you back into our office! Our practice has always maintained the highest standards for the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as well as disinfection protocols. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have enhanced our PPE and disinfection protocols to exceed the minimum standards as set by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). When you arrive at our office, we may look a little different in our upgraded PPE, but we want you to know that we are trying our best to stay safe for you and for each other.

We have been monitoring the CDC and Illinois Department of Health (IDPH) sites for any update that may impact our practice. Our team is closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation in Chicago and Illinois. As an essential business, we are allowed to remain open in order to care for you at this time. If there is a change in status, we will update you.

Our practice has implemented various changes in procedures, protocols and PPE due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We felt it was important to share with you some of the behind the scenes upgrades we have implemented for your safety and the safety of our team and families.

What Has Changed?

  • Prescreening COVID-19 questionnaire:
    • We have implemented a prescreening COVID-19 questionnaire which is to be completed prior to visiting our office. We will contact you in advance of your visit to have you complete the questionnaire.
    • The questionnaire includes a series of health-related and travel questions. The questionnaire is required to be answered prior to your visit. By answering the questions, we are able to screen out patients who may have COVID-19 symptoms prior to them coming to the office.
  • Masks:
    • Masks are required of all patients and employees in both our office and the professional building.
  • Social distancing:
    • We have updated our scheduling procedures in order to help maintain social distancing and keep the number of patients in our practice to a minimum.
    • We updated our business hours in order to reduce interactions in the elevator and lobby. We choose “off peak” hours for arrival and departure to minimize exposure in public places and on transportation.
    • A few of our employees are allowed to work from home at this time in order to facilitate social distancing in the office.
    • Patients are asked to come alone to their visit in order to keep the waiting area free and clear for parents of minors or essential caregivers.
  • Spacing visits:
    • We have implemented plans to space out hygiene and dental visits in order to maximize your treatment time and mitigate interactions in the waiting space.
  • Prior to your visit:
    • Please brush your teeth prior to your arrival
  • Curbside check-in:
    • We tailored our arrival procedures to guide you from the lobby (or your car) to our treatment rooms in order to minimize contact with surfaces and other patients.
  • Sneeze guards:
    • Sneeze guards have been installed in the reception area for your protection and that of our team.
  • Arrival procedures:
    • After you arrive and check-in curbside, you will be greeted at the door to our practice. We will offer you hand sanitizer and take your temperature.
    • You may notice that all “high touch” items have been removed from the waiting area in order to prevent the transfer of germs from one individual to another.
    • Before your treatment is started we will offer you a pre-rinse to reduce any exposure to germs.
  • Employee procedures:
    • All employees are required to take and document their temperature prior to arriving in the office.
    • All employees are required to answer the same prescreening questions as patients prior to arriving in the office.
    • Any employee who has symptoms based on the prescreening questionnaire will be asked to contact their primary care physician and obtain a COVID-19 test. The employee will self-quarantine until all symptoms resolve in accordance with CDC guidelines.
  • COVID-19 Testing:
    • Based on the COVID-19 case load in Illinois and Chicago, patients may be asked to obtain a COVID-19 test prior to their visit.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):
    • Fortunately, we were able to gather the necessary PPE to treat you safely as well as keep our team safe.
    • We will most certainly look a little different when you visit us in the office. We want you to know that we take your health and safety and that of our team very seriously.
    • Our upgraded PPE includes respirators that filter out the smallest aerosols, eye protection, face shields and gowns.
  • Ambient air treatment:
    • In our operatories and sterilization area we have installed Novaerus air treatment units. These use ultra-low energy plasma technology and the units are run continuously to dis-infect the air.
    • We have equipped our common spaces with HEPA filters from Blueair to increase air turn-over and minimize ambient aerosols.
    • We have equipped our common spaces with HEPA filters from Blueair to increase air turn-over and minimize ambient aerosols.
  • Enhanced air filtration chairside:
    • We have introduced protocols to minimize aerosols during your procedure.
    • We are utilizing a dental air vacuum equipped with a HEPA filter and UVC light.
    • For some dental procedures, we will utilize additional intra-oral devices that minimize aerosol exposure.
  • Enhanced disinfection procedures:
    • The reception room is wiped down after each patient enters the office.
    • All “high touch” surfaces (door handles, countertops, reception chairs) are wiped down multiple times per day.
    • The operatories are cleaned and disinfected after each patient.
    • Our team members changing their gowns and wiping down all of their personal equipment after each patient visit and prior to seeing another patient.
  • Virtual Visits:
    • We are offering virtual consultations and limited exams for all patients.
    • Teledentistry services offer us the opportunity to follow-up with you on treatment plans, referrals to specialists and/or evaluate issues prior to your coming into the office.
    • These visits help facilitate social distancing as well as allow you to hear us better from the comfort of your own home or office.
